Sam Picard

Sam Picard came to Missio Dei in 2014. Following GW’s lead, he started learning about homelessness and the systems that support people who are experiencing homelessness, as well as the systems of injustice and complacency that stand in the way. Sam also works for BayCare Health System seeking to strengthen connections in the community to support people with substance use and mental health challenges.

Forever in our hearts
A tireless advocate for human dignity, G.W. played a huge role in making Missio what it is. After experiencing homelessness for years, he said, “God sent me back to the prison I got out of.” GW died in July 2024, but his legacy of advocacy, compassion and pithy phrases lives on.
