You Foolish (Galatians)

Robin and I have been traveling over the past month.  For one week in the middle of our vacation, I attended the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Pittsburgh where the church had its biennial meeting.  There were many opportunities for worship, prayer, conversation and observing the business of the assembly.  I had the opportunity to speak to one of Missio Dei’s friends, Brian McLaren who spoke to the assembly one morning.  Doug Pagitt was also there for an evening, but I didn’t get a chance to talk to him before he left Pittsburgh.  If you would like more information about the assembly visit www.pcusa.org

This Sunday, we continue our series on the Letter to the Galatians.   We will be turning to the third chapter of Paul’s Letter which begins with this startling remark:   “You irrational Galatians! Who put a spell on you?”   Truth be told, religious people are often irrational!   Many of us like to avoid the label religious and tell people we are spiritual but not religious.  Even so, people—all people—at times, are irrational.  We will be looking at the reason Paul called the Galatians irrational.   Some translations translate the verse, “You foolish Galatians!”  Either way, something interesting is going on here!

If you would like to read the entire third chapter, in preparation for Sunday, check out this web site.

I look forward to worshiping together on Sunday morning at the Studio@620.   If you have comments or questions about Galatians 3 that you would like to share with me before Sunday, please send them to doug [at] themissiodei [dot] com    I would enjoy hearing from you!
